Terms of service

Last updated: 4 October 2026

The short version

Sentiens is a place where two strangers talk by voice for a few minutes. Be kind, be yourself, and leave people's voices with them. You must be 18 or older. You can leave at any time.

These terms are the agreement between you and us. Please read them together with our privacy page.

Who we are

Sentiens is run by Hubert Zelek, a sole trader registered in Poland as Digital Creations - Hubert Zelek, ul. Sanocka 5/11, 37-700 Przemyśl, Poland, NIP 7952487987, REGON 522814572. You can reach us at hello@sentiens.app. This address is also our point of contact for authorities and for anyone who wants to tell us about illegal content.

Who can use Sentiens

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • One account per person, for your own use.
  • You can't use Sentiens if we've closed your account before for breaking these terms.

When you sign up, you tick I'm 18 or older and I accept the Terms, with links to these terms and to our privacy policy right there, and then tap Sign up. Ticking the box and tapping Sign up is how you enter into this agreement with us. Our privacy policy isn't something you agree to: it explains what we do with your data, so please read it. We keep the date you accepted and the version of the terms it was for.

What Sentiens is

  • You record a short voice (up to 15 seconds) and it drifts across the sky. Someone hears it and can answer with their own voice.
  • If you both say yes, you talk live, by voice only, for a set time.
  • After a talk, you can thank each other, and keep an ember to talk again if you both want to.

Sentiens is company for the night. It isn't therapy, counselling or a crisis service, and the people you meet aren't professionals. If you or someone else is in danger, call 112. In Poland and several other EU countries, 116 123 is a line where someone will listen.

Sentiens is free. We're still testing it, so things will change, and sometimes something won't work. If we ever add a paid plan, you'll see its price and terms before you pay, and nothing that's free today will start costing money without you choosing it.

What you need

  • An Android phone with Android 7.0 or newer, the Sentiens app from Google Play, and an internet connection.
  • A working microphone, and permission for the app to use it.
  • An email address you can read.
  • Notifications are optional.

How we treat each other

Everyone at the fire is a stranger to everyone else. That only works if people are safe here. So, in your voice clips and in your talks:

  • No harassment, threats or hate. Don't demean anyone for who they are: their origin, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age or anything else.
  • No sexual content involving anyone under 18, ever. We report it to the authorities.
  • No sexual harassment. Don't push sexual talk on someone who hasn't asked for it.
  • Don't record other people. Don't record, save or share anyone's voice or talk, with another app or in any other way, without their clear permission.
  • Keep identities out of it. Don't ask for or share names, addresses, phone numbers, social media or photos, yours or anyone else's, and don't try to work out who someone is.
  • Don't pretend to be someone you're not in a way meant to mislead or harm.
  • No selling, advertising or recruiting. No spam, no links, no pitching.
  • Nothing illegal, and no encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.
  • Don't game the system. No bots, scripts, multiple accounts or tricks to get around a block, a limit or how voices are shared.

Your voice is yours

You keep every right to what you say. You give us permission to store your voice clips and play them to the people Sentiens serves them to, only to run Sentiens, and only for as long as our privacy page says. That permission ends when the clip is deleted.

Talks are never recorded by us. Only you are responsible for what you say.

Reports and what we do about them

  • Report & block. If something feels wrong, you can report a voice or a talk in the app. A report always blocks both ways at once: you won't meet again, and if you're in a talk, it ends.
  • Telling us about illegal content. Anyone, with or without an account, can write to hello@sentiens.app. Tell us what it was, when, and why you think it's illegal. We'll confirm we got it and tell you what we did.
  • What we may do. If someone breaks these terms or the law, we may remove their voice, limit what they can do, or suspend or close their account. We act in proportion to what happened, and we look at each case fairly.
  • We tell you why. If we act against your content or your account, we'll email you what we did, why, and how to disagree, unless the law stops us or it would put someone at risk.
  • Disagreeing. Reply to that email within 6 months and we'll look again, with a person, not a machine. You can also go to an out-of-court dispute settlement body or to court.

Because talks aren't recorded, we can't listen back to them. We decide on what's in front of us, and we'd rather keep people apart than guess.

Leaving, and when we end things

  • You can leave at any time: delete your account in Settings → Delete account or at sentiens.app/delete-account. Your agreement with us ends then.
  • We can end the agreement if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the law, with an email saying why. Where it's not urgent, we'll warn you first.
  • If we close Sentiens, we'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before, and delete your data as our privacy page says.

Complaints

If something isn't working as it should, write to hello@sentiens.app with what happened and the email you use in Sentiens. We'll answer within 14 days.

If you live in Poland, you can also ask your local consumer ombudsman (miejski or powiatowy rzecznik konsumentów) or the trade inspection (Inspekcja Handlowa) for help. In other EU countries, your national consumer centre can help.

Our responsibility

We work to keep Sentiens running and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of faults, especially while we're testing. We're not responsible for what other people say in their voices or talks, though we act on reports as described above.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law, or our responsibility for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app at least 14 days before the change applies. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then. Once the change applies, the app asks you once, when you open it, to tick the box for the new version and tap Continue. It never asks in the middle of a talk. Until you do, you can sign out, read the documents, or delete your account. Small fixes, like typos or clearer wording, apply straight away and don't change the date at the top. That date changes only when the terms change in a way that matters.

Law and courts

Polish law applies to these terms. If you're a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of that country, and you can take a dispute to the courts where you live.
